Pittsburgh's 250th birthday celebration and the first UAA Round Robin tournament held several ups and downs for Case's volleyball team. The Spartans went into the weekend with a big challenge ahead of them, facing nationally ranked No. 4 Washington University, Carnegie Mellon University, the UAA's third seed, and sixth-seed University of Rochester. After a solid 3-0 win against Penn State Behrend this past Wednesday, the Spartans prepared to face New York University in their first UAA (University Athletic Association) game on Saturday. Gian Genovesi is a senior management major with a concentration in finance. He's a defensive lineman on Case's 4-0-football team. The Ohio native is a product of Chaminade-Julienne Catholic High School and is involved in the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the Case Association of Student Athletes. Last Saturday, Denison traveled to Case Field to take on the Spartans and were handed their third defeat of the season, dropping their record to 1-3.
